Working with Athletes of All Ages

Mental and Emotional Health

One of the most overlooked parts of being an athlete is the way we handle our mental and emotional health from a young age. This directly affects our performance in a given sport. Outside factors like parents, school, relationships, friendships and family tend to play greater roles on our performance when we don’t have the tools to practice healthy expression and understanding of our mental and emotional needs.

Healthy Relationship with Training

One of the things even coaches with good intention overlook is that each athlete has a unique and individual relationship with their training. I can help you or your young athlete find where that healthy balance is. The balance between optimal performance, and under/over training. If we want to progress in anything we do, we need to have both periods of work and periods of rest. This is how we build.

Self-Confidence

There’s a difference between being arrogant and having a strong sense of self. Developing a strong sense of self inside and outside of your sport will help you not only perform better, but live a healthier and more fulfilling life. We start by looking at your blind-spots. The areas you might be subconsciously avoiding. Then, from here, we build you up so that your sense of deep Self is strong. You will notice a difference in how you approach training, practice, and performance by developing self-confidence. This is especially useful for athletes ages 12-18.

Healing from Unhealthy Coaching

Chances are you or your young athlete have had coaches that have made huge impacts on your physical performance, mental and emotional health. Sometimes these impacts are incredible and change your life in a positive way. Other times, they can shatter an athlete’s self-belief, self-love, and sense of inner power. A coach that is breaking down an athlete physically, mentally, or emotionally without building them back out can lead to an athlete never reaching their full potential and having issues in other areas of their life. I can help you or your young athlete heal from the deep rooted issues around unhealthy coaching. Let’s build the athlete from the inside out.

Growth Mindset

A tool that all athletes need when pushing themselves is to develop a healthy growth mindset. The athlete must separate comparing themselves to others, from basing their improvement on their own performances. This is easier said than done. Together, we will help you build the mental and emotional resiliency required to take yourself to the next level of performance. This will not just improve how you practice and train, but it will redefine why you practice and train. If we want longevity as an athlete we must define our internal “why”.

Life After Sport

When we finally decide to step away from a sport, be it at the high school, collegiate, or professional level the question we are most often left with is “who are we?” We have defined ourselves as this athlete, that composed our entire identity. How do we find our true why? We must reframe our athletic pursuits as not who we are, but what we do/did. I can help you build a life you are proud of after you stop competing professionally. Together, we can focus on finding work that has purpose and meaning to you. On building and growing relationships with yourself and others that fuel your soul and contribute to the healthy life you want to live. You are more than just an athlete. You are a human-being and with that comes the gift of living your life to its fullest.
